With 900 Million Voters, 2019 Election Game Is On
With 900 million voters from 29 states and 7 union territories, 2019 Election game is on. Voting for a new parliament will last till May 19 and the results will be announced on May 23.
2019 Election Voters
There are 900 million people who will cast their vote in the world’s largest elections this year. Out of which 432 million women are eligible to vote and 83 million are new voters. There are 15 million voters who are aged between 18 and 19, while 38,000 voters belong to the transgender community.
The entire process will last from April 11 to May 19 out of which voting will take place on 7 days.
2019 Election Polling Booths
There are 1.035 million polling booths across India for which 11 million election personnel are being deployed. To carry the entire process, 3.96 million electronic voting machines (EVMs) are used. Paper trail or voter-verified paper audit trail machines are 1.7 million in number. This helps in keeping a documentary record of the voter.
To show some facts, the world’s highest polling station is set up at Tashigang, Himachal Pradesh. It is at a height of 15,256 feet.
To ensure that the only resident of Gir National Forest in Gujarat cast his vote, the election team travels to 35 kilometers. Even the temple priest gets his own polling station with an EVM.
2019 Election Politics
There are 2,293 political parties who have registered for 2019 elections. For Lok Sabha seats, there are 8,000 candidates who have filed their nominations.
