The Indian Armed Force consists of the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Coast Guard. They are the guarding shield that keeps the nation protected and enemies away. They are brave, bold, courageous and high-spirited people. Here are some few facts about the Indian Armed Forces that will suffice that why it is the best in the world.

1. Controls the highest battlefield in the world

India has the highest battlefield in the world which is at 5000 meters above the Mean Sea Level (MSL). This highest peak is at the Siachen Glacier which is located in the eastern Karakoram Range in the Himalayas where the Line of Control between India and Pakistan ends.

2. High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS)

The Indian Army’s High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) is known to be the best military training centers in the world. The school operates in High altitude areas and complex glaciated terrain. Also, US Special Forces were also trained at HAWS before their operation during the invasion of Afghanistan.

HAWS also conducted two expeditions on the two highest peaks of Kashmir and submitted Mount Harmukh and Mount Kolahoi.

3. No Reservation

Unlike other government organizations and institutions in India, there is no reservation in the Indian Armed Forces. Soldiers are recruited on the basis of merit and fitness.

4. Operation Rahat (2013)

Operation Rahat in 2013 was one of the biggest civilian rescue operations in the world. It was carried out by the Indian Air Force to during the Uttarakhand Floods Natural Calamity. The IAF airlifted around 20,000 people in the rescue operation and dropped a total of 3, 82,400 kg of relief material.

5. The Highest Bridge In The World Is Built By The Indian Army

The Bailey bridge is the highest bridge in the world which is built by the Indian Army in August 1982. The bridge is located in the Ladakh valley between Dras and Susu rivers in the Himalayan Mountains.

The Indian Army ranks third in the world following the USA and China respectively.

Param Veer Chakra is the highest military honor. It is awarded for the highest degree of bravery in the presence of the enemy.
